Over 500 people attended the protest on Sunday the 17th of August against the Chinese governments continued crackdown on the Uyghur population of East Turkistan.
The protesters began in Victoria square and marched along King William Street with police escorts and gathered in Parliament House where speeches were given by ETAA community leaders as well as representatives from the state and federal government.
Passionate speeches were made to the general public about the current situation in East Turkistan and requested everyone to continue to raise the awareness of the suffering of the Uyghur people under the brutal dictaroship of the Chinese Communist Government.
Secretary of ETAA Nurmuhammad Turkistani on behalf of ETAA thanked all those that participated in the protest especially the local Islamic communities and requested that they continue their support for the people suffering in East Turkistan.
